The Shrine at San Luis - Sand in Our Hair

Photos by Richard R. Barron

The desert southwest is filled with the beautiful, simple architecture of Spanish missions. Many of them are exquisite examples of the devotion of their members, but none moreso than this one, at the top of a mesa overlooking Colorado's oldest community, San Luis. The trail leading to the mission features Stations of the Cross represented by bronze statues.
